[] Preclinical Platform
  [] Zebrafish

Neuron BioPharma undertakes preclinical studies in increasingly complex models: zebrafish, mice and rats. In zebrafish model, Neuron BioPharma owns a wide range of techniques to study the effects of compounds in neurodegeneration and aging phenomena. For this purpose, the company has previously optimized transgenic models of the disease or models that are based on treatments reproducing some of the main events of Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson or other neurological diseases (Huntington, epilepsy, etc.)

[] Rodents

Neuron BioPharma uses mouse and rat models to develop preclinical studies on the neuroprotective or hypolipemiant effect of compounds. For doing that, molecular imaging studies are carried out to track the disease and its reversion by administering the compound. In addition to this, pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of compounds are studied. Neuron BioPharma has developed a wide range of pharmacological and transgenic model of the main neurological diseases.
Neuron BioPharma is exclusive licensee of the hAPPy mouse (patent    WO2007063160), the only mouse model with the entire APP human gene sequence and its regulatory sequences.  This mouse allows the preclinal study of potentially useful compounds to treat or prevent Alzheimer’s disease.
Neuron BioPharma is exclusive licensee of the paten WO2005101956 on a method to identify therapeutically useful compounds to treat and prevent infections caused by the human herpes virus.

Behaviour and memory

Neuron BioPharma owns a behavioral phenotyping unit to analyse the effect of its compounds on the main locomotor and cognitive events caused by neurodegeneration in the mice developed in-house. To that end, this unit has state-of-the-art technology and a highly experienced team in this field.
