Preclinical evaluation of statins and derivate molecules with hypocholesterolemical and/or neuroprotective activity.

Recently, it has been described that the treatment with statins reduces the risk of suffering from Alzheimer’s disease. These drugs have been associated with anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory activity that could be applied on neurodegenerative disease with positive results.
Neuron BioPharma develops its activities on the filed of statins with three specific objectives:
  -To identify the statins, which are already in the market, with the highest level of neuroprotective activity and their mechanisms of action.
-To search for new statins with neuroprotective activity and identify new therapeutical targets.
-To develop new biotechnological systems to obtain statins.

As result of this, Neuron BioPharma has presented four patent applications.
